25 Hour Online ImmersioN

For a yoga practice to have longevity it needs to fit into your life, support your goals and speak to your heart. This online immersion (spread over 2 weekends) encourages you to use your agency to create a practice that is nurturing and sustainable to you. Using an Ashtanga Yoga framework we will dive into discussions and assignments that will challenge you to think critically about your practice and work out the best approach for you. By the end of our time together, you will have all you need to create a sustainable yoga practice.

YOUR TEACHERS

Corrie ananda

Corrie is of Trinidadian and British heritage. Her interests are identity, liberation and belonging; breaking down limiting imposed and self-imposed structures and moving beyond social binaries.  Her commitment is to radical inclusivity.Corrie has been practising ashtanga yoga for 22 years, she has received level II authorisation to teach by Sharath Jois (Mysore India). Having completed primary, intermediate and advanced A series she is  unravelling advanced B.

Corrie experiences the yoga practice as a somatic journey toward insight and self-revelation. Her teaching is a collaboration with each individual to find their optimum physical expression through asana, whilst holding the necessary container for a reflective yoga practice. Corrie’s teaching is precise, mindful and from the heart.

Qualifications: Masters degree in the Traditions of Yoga and Meditation (SOAS): P. G. Cert. Psychotherapy and Counselling (Regents University): Mobility Specialist (FRC): Currently studying Existential Psychotherapy (D.Prof at NSPC & Middx University).G

Shanna small

Shanna Small is a writer and Yoga teacher who speaks to the intersectionality of Yoga and social justice.  She has practiced Ashtanga Yoga and studied the Yoga Sutras since 2001. She has studied in Ashtanga in Mysore with Sharath Jois. Shanna studied Sanskrit, the Yoga Sutras and the Hatha Yoga Pradipika with Laksmish in Mysore, India.

Shanna’s finds joy in making the Ashtanga practice accessible for all.  She studied with Amber Karnes and Dianne Bondy and is Yoga For All certified. She is a regular contributor for Yoga International, OmStars and the Ashtanga Dispatch. She teaches diversity and inclusivity, Yoga Sutras as well as accessibility trainings and workshops. She is a founding member of Yoga For Recovery Foundation, a non-profit that helps those recovering from addiction, trauma and systemic oppression. Shanna is also certified in the Trauma Conscious Yoga Method.

Qualifications: ERYT 500. Shanna is a graduate of Georgia State University and holds a bachelor’s in business with a concentration in marketing. Before becoming a full time yoga teacher, Shanna was a recruiter and ad account executive.


Wambui Njuguna-Räisänen

Wambui Njuguna-Räisänen is a Kenyan-American based in Finland, passionate about making wellness through yoga and meditation seamlessly engaged in equity and justice so that more people of the global majority can live well and thrive.

Wambui is deeply inspired by spiritual teachers and communities that seek ways to apply the insights from our various practices and teachings to situations of social, racial, political, environmental and economic suffering and injustice.

She would like to see wellness spaces engage more in social justice + collective change and activist spaces learn to breathe deeply and practice sustainable self-care in the midst of dismantling systemic oppression. This is her definition of community care.

Our sliding scale has two tiers. The second tier contributes to a scholarship. Once we have contributions for a scholarship, we will announce it’s availability. This immersion is for everyone from newcomers to seasoned practitioners. There are 3 teachers, and we are using zoom, which means we can divide the group up for technique classes if needed to ensure that everyone gets what they need.

What you will need:
Yoga mat Zoom (it is free) Internet connection For asana classes we would like your full frame to be visible Yoga clothing that stays in place – light colours work best on zoom An open mind Attendance While this training will be recorded, the modules build on each other. It is recommended that you attend all sessions in person. It is easier to keep up than it is to catch up. However, we understand that the best laid plans sometimes don’t work. Please contact us, in advance, if you may miss a module, and we will discuss.

Yoga Alliance CEU’s/CPD
If you want Yoga Alliance CEU’s, you must attend all modules in person. This immersion qualifies for 25 Yoga Alliance CEU’s.

This 25 hour is about critical thinking, discernment and creating your own personal practice. Throughout the training, you will create the different elements of your practice. At the end, you will share that with us
